HOBOKEN - The mayor of Hoboken is warning residents to be prepared for heavy rain and flooding from remnants of Tropical Storm Andrea.

Mayor Dawn Zimmer recorded a reverse 911 call that went out Thursday night, telling the city to expect 2 to 5 inches of rain.

The city of Hoboken is asking residents to move cars and has set up barricades in flood-prone areas. Emergency crews are on standby.

Residents say they are familiar with intersections that flood every time there is heavy rain, but are concerned about sewage coming up onto the sidewalks.

Mayor Zimmer says she has a long-term plan to prevent future flooding. "I know this is frustrating, I know this is tough," Zimmer says. "But we've applied for every grant possible to get pumps and additional infrastructure."

City officials are asking residents to be vigilant and patient Friday as the rain moves in.
