TOKYO - (AP) - Japan's prime minister says there is major earthquakedamage in northeastern Japan but nuclear power facilities in thearea are fine and there was no radiation leakage. The government says there have been deaths in the magnitude 8.9quake, which generated a 13-foot tsunami that hit Japan'snortheastern coast. The wave swept away buildings and cars and thePacific Tsunami Center widened its warning to include the entirePacific Ocean. TV footage showed severe flooding, with dozens of cars, boatsand even buildings being carried along by waters. Injuries werereported in Tokyo. A large ship swept away by the tsunami rammed directly into abreakwater in Miyagi prefecture, according to footage on publicbroadcaster NHK. The quake was followed by a series of aftershocks, including a7.4-magnitude one about 30 minutes later.
