LITTLE EGG HARBOR - Marina owners in Little Egg Harbor say they're in danger of going under due to damage sustained during Hurricane Sandy.

Boating is a big part of the culture and drives the local economy in Little Egg Harbor. But many marina owners are in danger of going under because FEMA or Small Business Administration (SBA) loans aren't an option. In order to qualify, the businesses must have sustained damage to "equipment."

For many of these marina owners, the boating industry is their livelihood. Munro's Marina, for example, has been a family business since 1967. Current owner Kristi Munro Hanselmann fears losing the family business.

Mark Hattman of Sheltered Cove Marina in Tuckerton says the damage to his marina and to the boats for sale is $5 million.

There are dozens of marinas in and around Little Egg Harbor. Owners say that without a place to dock, visitors - along with their money - will go elsewhere.
