SEASIDE PARK - Commuters who were heading to work in New Jersey found that the major highways were clear of snow following the major storm that clobbered the state.

However, many schools were closed Monday because snow remained a problem on local roads.

Motorists were advised to drive cautiously because of slick spots, especially on highway ramps.

New Jersey state troopers responded to 301 crashes and aided 1,635 motorists during the storm.

Utility crews worked throughout the storm to restore power to the thousands of customers who suffered outages.

Five deaths have been attributed to the storm.
