BERKELEY TOWNSHIP - The manager of a Little League team has been accused of assaulting a 17-year-old umpire at a Berkeley Township baseball game.
Police say 43-year-old Thomas Murphy slapped the teen at the Little League complex on Moorage Avenue after the umpire ejected him from the game. Murphy was charged with simple assault, and an additional charge of simple assault at a sporting event where children are present.
The alleged incident happened in front of players ages 10 through 12 and their parents.
