MIDDLETOWN - A wedding brawl in Middletown involving some 300 people forced police to shut down the reception.

Middletown police say they shut down a wedding at Jacques Reception Center one hour early Sunday night when a crowd got violent and would not disperse. They say the brawl started out with a small fist fight inside the venue that quickly escalated and continued out into the parking lot with screaming, pushing and shoving.

Neighbors in the area say they could hear the screaming from three blocks away. Police arrested a woman from Haledon and a man from Oceanside, New York, for obstruction and disorderly conduct.

News 12 New Jersey was told no one was hurt, but it is not yet clear what started the brawl.
