NEWARK - A man dressed as a woman was arrested for allegedly sneaking onto the Newark Liberty International Airport runway early Wednesday morning.

Port Authority officials have confirmed published reports a man was found trespassing on Christmas morning.

According to the New York Post, the man, who was identified as Siyah Bryant, of Jersey City, climbed a security fence and crossed the runway. He was discovered by a United Airlines worker.

The New York Post reports that Bryant had been traveling with another man on the Turnpike when their car ran out of gas. He allegedly hopped the airport fence to get help.

He was arrested without incident, but police aren't sure how he made it past security.

A mixture of fences, cameras and computers known as Perimeter Intrusion Detection System, or PIDS, is at all of Port Authority's airports. In a statement, Port Authority said, "This is an ongoing investigation and PAPD is continuing to review PIDS video and other surveillance methods to determine the circumstances of the incident."

The suspect was checked against terrorist watch lists. When nothing showed up, he was issued a summons for trespassing.
