Police say the 30-year-old victim was walking near the intersection of Lawrence and Mercer streets in the city's Fourth Ward when he was approached by a male on a bicycle. The suspect then pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots at the victim, striking him several times, according to police.

The victim was able to flag down a city cab and the driver transported him to St. Joseph's Medical Center.
