TOMS RIVER - Police say a 68-year-old man from Normandy Beach was repairing a boat parked in front of a home on Silver Beach Road in Toms River when it caught fire.

The man says the engine caught fire when he started the ignition.He suffered serious burns to his right hand and right foot and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The fire caused some vinyl siding on the house to melt, but no other structures were affected.
