Man injured after train hits car on tracks

New Jersey Transit officials say a Paterson man was injured after a train struck his car on the tracks in Paterson.

PATERSON - New Jersey Transit officials say a Paterson man was injured after a train struck his car on the tracks in Paterson.

They say the incident happened when a train heading to Suffern, New York struck the car on the tracks at the Fifth Avenue grade crossing at around 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

The driver of the car, Cristian Vasquez, was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. Authorities say no one aboard the train was injured.

Vasquez was issued several summonses including disregarding a railroad signal, reckless driving and driving with a suspended license.
