NEWARK - A New Jersey man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after recruiting a 15-year-old girl to work as a prostitute.

Ronald Garris Jr. was sentenced to prison Wednesday by District Judge Jose Linares after previously pleading guilty to sex trafficking of a minor.

Garris recruited the girl he met at a hotel in South Plainfield in June 2013 to work as a prostitute. He posted an ad on that contained explicit photos of the girl and admitted arranging dates where the girl was expected to perform sexual acts for money.

The girl told investigators that she earned $100 to $200 per hour for performing sexual acts at Garris' direction with 10 clients. Garris told them he kept 40 percent of the money.
