NEWARK - Another deadly shooting investigation was underway Saturday night in Newark, coming after a wave of violence erupted throughout the city.

Newark police say they were called to a home on Mount Prospect Avenue at around 7:30 p.m. after neighbors say they heard a single gunshot.

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office says 39-year-old Jose Alfaro was shot and killed at the scene.

News 12 was told that police interviewed people in the home where the incident happened. No arrests have been made.

If this shooting is ruled a homicide, it will be the city's 103rd this year, the most since 2007.
