A man out swimming with friends drowned off the coast of Mantoloking on the Fourth of July.

MANTOLOKING - A man out swimming with friends drowned off the coast of Mantoloking on the Fourth of July.

The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office says lifeguards called 911 when a 22-year-old man disappeared into the water just after 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

The U.S. Coast Guard, state police and local fire crews searched the water and found the man less than an hour later.

Officials say despite efforts to perform CPR, the man died.

The victim was visiting for Independence Day from Yonkers, New York. He has been identified as John Crimmins.
