Man charged in deadly ambulance crash

Bail is set at $300,000 for the man who was driving a minivan that crashed into an ambulance in Newark, killing an EMT.

NEWARK - Bail is set at $300,000 for the man who was driving a minivan that crashed into an ambulance in Newark, killing an EMT.
Authorities have charged 29-year-old James Sterling, of Elizabeth, with aggravated manslaughter, aggravated assault, driving with a suspended license and eluding.

The crash on South Orange Avenue and South 9th Street also involved a food truck and an Essex County bus.

The crash claimed the life of 30-year-old EMT Keith Chipepo, of Montclair, and left the ambulance driver, patient and the driver of the food truck injured.
