KEANSBURG - Authorities have charged a man with desecrating human remains after police discovered his daughter's skeletal remains in the crawl space of a home he once owned.
Keansburg police were called to the former Campview Terrace home of Dennis Adler, 57, on Tuesday after a cleaning service discovered the remains.
The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office says dental records confirmed the remains are that of Kimberly Adler. Officials believe she was 23 years old at the time of her death around 2008. Adler was never reported missing. Authorities were not aware of her death until the cleaning crew found her.
One of Kim Adler's childhood friends, Nicole Souza, says people would ask Dennis Adler about his daughter's whereabouts, and he would typically answer that she was in Florida.
Dennis Adler is being held at the Monmouth County jail on $100,000 bail.
