EDISON - Authorities say a Clifton man fled from UMDNJ hospital in Newark while under the supervision of parole officials just hours before he allegedly killed his ex-girlfriend on Monday.

The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office says David Goodell, 30, was taken to the hospital Sunday night to be treated for a "purported seizure."

Goodell was spotted at Ridgefield Park High School Monday afternoon, disoriented and bleeding. Police say that when they arrived, Goodell jumped in his car and took off. Authorities say they chased him into a dead-end street in Ridgefield where they say he crashed into a police cruiser.

Authorities then discovered the body of his ex-girlfriend Viviana Tulli in the front passenger seat of the car.

The 30-year-old has been charged with murder, eluding, assault by auto and two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer.

Goodell is being held on $2 million bail.
