Man accused of attempting to blow up car, home in Middletown

MIDDLETOWN - A Brooklyn man has been charged with plotting to blow up the car and home of a Middletown man, according to

Middletown police tell, Zachary Sullivan, 28, was charged with attempted arson, aggravated assault, possession of a destructive device and causing or risking widespread injury or damage. Police found him with suspicious substances, one of which burned through its container and his clothes.

Police say three police officers were hospitalized after coming in contact with the liquid.

Sullivan is being held at the Monmouth County Jail on $200,000 bail.
