PATERSON - The Paterson School District says its School 6 and School 10 are among the lowest-performing schools in New Jersey, but it hopes a major restructuring project will help give the schools a fresh start.

The project includes replacing about half of the faculty and some administrators at both schools. Under the new plan, teachers may have to reapply for their jobs, while moving other teachers elsewhere inside the district.

Teachers News 12 New Jersey spoke with say they are concerned for their future and the Paterson Education Association says that they have the right to be.

The district says Paterson schools have applied for a federal grant to help pay for the restructuring. The process could begin as early as this fall.
