MAHWAH - Mahwah's mayor-elect says that the community is looking for change, and that's why he was elected. Bill Laforet has run a Mahwah gas station for 30 years, but has no political experience.

Because of his lack of political chops, he hired Lou Rizzo to help him start a grassroots campaign when he decided to run that promoted him as a straight-forward businessman that could turn the town's economy around.

Laforet plans to tackle Mahwah's finances and restore the quality of life for its residents. As the underdog candidate, he says it's humbling to have a chance to give back to the town where he grew up.
