LONG BRANCH - A pair of Long Branch school maintenance workers has been suspended following an apparent prank involving four boys in a bathroom, district officials said today.
While the exact circumstances of the incident aren't clear yet, some accounts suggest four Gregory Elementary School students were bound and gagged with caution tape. The four students were under the age of 10.
Authorities say none of the children were sexually abused or physically hurt. Michael Salvatore, the superintendent of schools, says that it is possible the children are emotionally distressed.
The school district says authorities were called after surveillance video showed the possibility of an incident.
Salvatore said no charges are expected to be filed against the two workers. The workers have been suspended while an investigation is conducted by the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office and the Long Branch Police Department.
