LONG BRANCH - Police in Long Branch want an ordinance passed that would mandate pawn shops photograph items sold to them.

Authorities say the ordinance would make it easier to track stolen goods. Like Us on Facebook

The new ordinance would call for pawn shops to photograph all items brought to pawn shops, especially items that fetch a high price tag like iPads and jewelry. The ordinance would also require prospective sellers to have a photo taken of their driver's license. Lastly, pawn shops would be asked to hold items for 30 days before resale.

The city council will consider the new ordinance at a meeting tomorrow.
