LONG BRANCH - A popular New Jersey beach may soon raise its prices for the first time in two decades.

Town officials in Long Branch say they are considering beach and parking fee increases to help offset the costs of running the beach.

Currently, the daily beach access fee is $5 and the city's seasonal fees remain the lowest along Monmouth County's oceanfront. The city also offers free parking at municipal lots.

According to an Asbury Park Press report, Long Branch Mayor Adam Schneider cites decreasing revenue, dwindling state aid and a grim 2011 budget outlook as reasons for the fee hike.

City officials say no decision has been made regarding the increases.
