LONG BRANCH - A beach in Long Branch has reopened following the discovery of medical waste along the shore.

Syringes were found in a clump of debris at Seven Presidents Park at around 3 p.m. Saturday, prompting officials to shut the beach to bathers as a precaution.

However, the all-clear has been given and the beach has been reopened. Crews walked the shoreline and say they found nothing, although they will continue to monitor the beach.

Beachgoers are urged to report unusual discoveries to a lifeguard.
