Linden police continue probe of fatal car accident

LINDEN - Family members and friends are mourning the loss of an 8-year-old boy who was struck and killed by an SUV Saturday in Linden.

Police say Shaun Mack was running across McCandless Street when he was struck by an SUV driven by the mother of one of his teammates on his Pop Warner football team.

A makeshift memorial was placed near Martin Luther King Jr. Park where Mack often played football.

"My son lost his best friend, my daughter lost her body guard and I lost my little soldier," the boy's father, Shan Mack, 39, said yesterday.

Linden school administrators say grief counselors will be made available to Sean Mack's classmates.

Authorities are still investigating the incident.
