Lifelong NJ resident joins super-centenarian club

WALL TOWNSHIP - Wall Township resident and Paterson native Melva Radcliffe just turned 110 years old, making her the oldest resident in New Jersey. As she hit her milestone birthday, Radcliffe joins the super-centenarian club, exclusive to those that have lived 11 decades or longer.

Radcliffe taught art and music to elementary school students in Paterson for 44 years. She has also taught kindergarten, first, second, third and fourth grades. She says she had 48 students in some of her classes. Radcliffe's great-niece credits her kind heart for keeping her young, although it doesn't seem that Radcliffe's long walks to and from work and daily glass of scotch hurt either.
