Liberty Science Center opens new tornado exhibit

JERSEY CITY - The Liberty Science Center has a new exhibit showing the sheer power of tornadoes and the ways in which homes and other buildings can withstand them.

The museum has a "curtain wall test" that allows visitors to experience driving rain and wind gusts of up to 70 mph. A separate wind tunnel helps architects and engineers develop structures capable of resisting brute natural force, museum curators said.

The science center is also airing the IMAX film "Tornado Alley," which simulates the experience of living through a tornado.
