JERSEY CITY - Liberty Science Center is getting ready for the Super Bowl with the opening of its Gridiron Glory exhibit.

Gridiron Glory combines football history with hands-on exhibits. For the local fans, it features a Hometown Heroes section showing off some of the great Giants and Jets teams.

Other items on display include the Tiffany-crafted Vince Lombardi trophy, a 1917 game ball used by Jim Thorpe and actual jerseys worn by Mean Joe Green, Johnny Unitas and many other athletes.

The exhibit also has an area where fans can try on some of today's gear and equipment and learn how to throw just like the pros.

Liberty Science Center will also host a series of meet-and-greet sessions with former favorites from the Giants and Jets when they arrive to take part in science demonstrations and sports challenges.

The exhibit will be open through March.
