LIBERTY STATE PARK - Three people were injured when the Miss New Jersey ferry collided with a pier at Liberty Island at around 3:15 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

Officials say there was damage to the ferry as well as the pier, but the incident is considered to be minor.

There were nine crew members and 497 passengers on the ship at the time.

The passengers disembarked at Liberty Island and were taken back to Battery Park.

The Coast Guard says it will be at both Liberty Island and Liberty Landing to inspect the damage to the vessel and the pier.

The Miss New Jersey is part of the Liberty Cruises Line, which operates from both Battery Park and Jersey City.
