LI police come up empty-handed after search for Jersey City woman

LONG ISLAND, N.Y. - Police returned the South Shore of Long Island today to search for the body of Shannan Gilbert, the Jersey City woman who went missing last May.

Police set out today to investigate 90 areas of interest identified in high-resolution aerial photos taken by the FBI.

Four bodies were found in the Gilgo Beach area of Suffolk County last December. The remains of six others were uncovered later. None of the remains belonged to Gilbert.

Police say they believe one serial killer is responsible for the 10 bodies. They also say they now believe that Gilbert's disappearance is unrelated to the 10 bodies found near the area where she was last seen.
