Majowicz responded to the fire and helped save many of the post office's vehicles and mail.

CARLSTADT - Postal and municipal officials honored one of their own today for his help in fighting a fire at the Carlstadt post office.

Letter carrier and volunteer fireman Ed Majowicz responded to the fire at the post office during the early morning hours of April 24.

Officials say Majowicz helped move all of the postal vehicles out of harm's way. He also was able to move mail from inside the burning building safely outside.

Majowicz then returned for work and helped deliver the day's mail without missing a beat.
