TRENTON - Layoffs are pending for about a third of Trenton's police force by the end of the week.

Mayor Tony Mack, along with city residents, elected officials and police officers, urged Gov. Chris Christie yesterday to send additional money to the city to prevent 108 police officers from losing their jobs.

Governor Christie says he will not restore transitional aid until the Legislature passes tougher rules regulating how it's spent.
