Lautenberg, Menendez call for assault weapon ban after CO shooting

EDISON - Last Friday's shooting at a Colorado movie theater has reignited calls for the U.S. to ban assault weapons.

Colorado police say they that the alleged shooter was arrested with an arsenal of guns and ammunition. The type of weaponry seized is what Sens. Frank Lautenberg and Robert Menendez want banned.

Lautenberg and Menendez are calling for the reinstatement of the Assault Weapons Ban, the federal law that prevented sales of certain semi-automatic firearms to the public. That law was reversed eight years ago.
