CRANFORD - Dozens of people who live in an apartment building in Cranford are displaced after a kitchen fire spread to an entire floor Wednesday.

Firefighters say the whole fifth floor of the Cranford Towers condominiums on Springfield Avenue was evacuated as crews worked to knock down the flames at around 3 p.m.

Police say one person was taken to a hospital for smoke inhalation.

The fire department has deemed at least one floor uninhabitable.

Families are working with the Red Cross to find temporary housing.

Sections of Springfield Avenue are closed until fire crews clear the scene.
