LAKEWOOD - For the past several months, Lakewood has not been paying Jersey Central Power and Light (JCP&L), saying that the utility failed to fix some 600 street lights.Lakewood recently filed a lawsuit claiming that it wasn't satisfied with the progress of the work being done to repair the lights.

JCP&L says it has been working on the problem since October, adding that all of the street lights now work. A spokesperson says the company's efforts have nothing to do with the lack of payment or lawsuit.News 12 New Jersey was told that some of the lights had wiring problems that required more time.

Meanwhile, township officials say they won't resume payment until they check that all the lights are back on.
