LONG BEACH ISLAND - Beaches were crowded on Long Beach Island today as locals and visitors enjoyed the last bit of the summer after Sandy.

Long Beach Island staples, like the Sandtrap mini-golf course and The Chicken or the Egg restaurant, made sure they were open by Memorial Day despite suffering severe damage during last year’s storm.

"The day we opened our doors, the customers flocked in,” said Mark Cohen, owner of the Chicken or the Egg. “We knew we'd be OK. We'd recover from this."

The Sandtrap will be open to golfers until Columbus Day, while the restaurant won’t close until Halloween.
