NEWARK - Following a Kane in Your Corner investigation on red light cameras, the Newark Police Department now says there is a problem with the system and it will take steps to fix it.

The Kane in Your Corner red light camera investigations began airing exclusively on News 12 New Jersey last month. The investigations focused on people who were getting tickets from red light cameras in Newark that they didn't deserve.

Apparently, Newark Police Director Garry McCarthy was watching and in an exclusive one-on-one interview, he promised to take steps to make the system better.

McCarthy says officers don't have time to review every single video before signing off on tickets. He says a process should be set up to make it easier for people to fight tickets, suggesting a box be added to tickets. This way, motorists could check asking police to review the video, saving themselves a trip to court.
