School of Dental Medicine Chair of Pediatric Dentistry Christopher V. Hughes says for many of the kids, it's the first time they've seen a dentist. "It also gets them over the fear of the dentist because you have a fun environment, there's a lot of stuff going on, and the dental students are young people having a good time," he says.

Organizers offered painless teeth cleaning, face painting, balloons and arts and crafts.
