NEW BRUNSWICK - Lawyers for the former Rutgers student who was charged with spying and bias intimidation after his roommate killed himself will ask a judge Friday to dismiss the case.

A national conversation about how young gays are treated was sparked last year after 18-year-old Tyler Clementi committed suicide.

Authorities said he killed himself last September after roommate Dharun Ravi tried to use a webcam to spy on Clementi's encounter with another man.

Ravi's lawyers also want prosecutors to reveal the identity of the man with whom Clementi had the encounter.
