NEWARK - (AP) - A man accused of fatally shooting hisestranged wife at a northern New Jersey YMCA two years ago - infront of their young children - has been convicted of murder.

Kenneth Duckett of Orange also was convicted Thursday on weaponscharges in the June 2008 shooting of Monica Paul. The Essex Countyjury deliberated for more than three days before returning theirverdict, which came about an hour after they said they had reachedan impasse.

Duckett faces 30 years to life in state prison when he'ssentenced Feb. 1.

The 39-year-old admitted shooting Paul inside the Montclair YMCAas she watched their 4-year-old son take a swimming class. ButDuckett said he never intended to kill her and did so only afterblacking out.

The couple's 11-year-old daughter witnessed the shooting andtestified at Duckett's trial.
