Kearny High School gets $22M to soundproof school

KEARNY - U.S. Rep. Steve Rothman (D-N.J.) and Kearny officials announced this afternoon $22 million in federal funds to soundproof Kearny High School.

The school, which sits just five miles from Newark Liberty International Airport, will receive the soundproofing funds under the Federal Aviation Administration's Airport Improvement Program to mitigate the impact of aircraft noise.

Officials say the project will create a cleaner environment for students and promote a better learning environment.
