EDISON - Thousands of News 12 New Jersey viewers are reacting to a Kane In Your Corner investigation into a popular antibiotic.

Last week, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a warning about the drug Levaquin and other fluoroquinolone antibiotics, which carry side effects so great that the drugs should not be routinely prescribed unless no other treatment options exist.

A Kane In Your Corner investigation found that several people in New Jersey suffered severe and at times crippling side effects due to the drug. The investigation also found that the FDA may have known about the side effects for a while before issuing the warning.

After the story aired, many New Jersey residents reached out to Kane in Your Corner to tell about their own bad experiences with the drug.

Levaquin is manufactured by New Jersey-based Johnson & Johnson. The company says that it is reviewing the FDA’s warning and will work with the agency.
