Judge rules service dog to be placed in kennel

Municipal Court Judge Richard Greenhalgh decided today that a service dog will have to move out of River Vale following an attack on a 6-year-old

RIVER VALE - Municipal Court Judge Richard Greenhalgh decided today that a service dog will have to move out of River Vale following an attack on a 6-year-old next door neighbor.

The German Shepherd named Ava used to care for Molly Kimball, 9, who is battling cancer. The ruling was reached just before the Kimball's neighbor, Isabelle Gernhardt, took the stand to talk about the March 19 attack that her parents say left her physically and emotionally scarred.

Authorities placed Ava in a River Vale kennel after the attack, but Greenhalgh says the dog will be moved to Edgewater Wednesday.

The Gernhardts say they love and pray for Molly, but that their friendship with the Kimballs can't be saved.
