Fanwood police were called to a home on Locust Avenue due to reports of shots being fired after 11 p.m. Friday. They say John Antonucci, 49, shot and killed two dogs, and fired shots at police as they arrived.

Police say Antonucci allegedly starting firing at officers with a rifle just before midnight, which prompted them to return fire. Negotiations between Antonucci and police lasted nearly seven hours.
