SHREWSBURY - The busy holiday season is filling one Shrewsbury cobbler and his family with glee.

With only a few days to go until Christmas, the Montedoro family has been working nonstop, sewing and repairing shoes in their shop.

Joe Montedoro, 82, has been working for nearly four decades in Shrewsbury and involves three generations of his family in the business. Each year, he dons a red hat and suit and lets kids run around his shop as if he were Saint Nick.

The retired Allenhurst fireman says he told his children that he plans on being the first 100-year-old cobbler. Despite his age, he says he might be a little tired, but has no plans of quitting.

Residents are welcome to stop by his shop to say hello and take a picture throughout the day.
