PATERSON - A North Jersey teacher is facing charges for allegedly offering to pay a student for sex.
Authorities say 50-year-old Thomas Weir, a teacher at JFK High School in Paterson, offered $50 to a male student in exchange for sex. He has been charged with attempted sexual assault, attempted endangering the welfare of a child and luring.
Each charge carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
Weir is the fourth New Jersey teacher this year to face sex-related charges involving a student.
