WEST ORANGE - Jewish Community Center MetroWest in West Orange has added additional security measures in light of the recent bomb threats against the Jewish community nationwide.

There have been five waves of bomb threats against 100 different Jewish centers since January. The latest wave came Monday. JCC MetroWest was targeted last month, prompting evacuations and security upgrades.

Members received a letter saying that there would be a one-time $36 fee to offset the extra security costs.

"Whatever they need to do, they need to do. JCC is a vital part of the community of West Orange and everybody supports the JCC,” says volunteer Robert Rashkes.

Other members say they do not mind the fee if it means better security. But they also say the federal government needs to step in to put a stop to the threats.

The Trump administration has come out against these threats, but the JCC Association says that it wants to see immediate action from the White House to catch the people responsible for making the threats.

“It’s not enough to acknowledge,” says member Sara Rubin. “They have to say ‘We’re going to do something about it.’”

No bombs or explosive devices have been found in any of the cases across the country.
