BELMAR - Beachgoers are already arriving at the Shore for Memorial Day weekend, the unofficial start of summer, and many say they're keeping their vacations in-state this year because of high gas prices.

Although prices at the pump are still high, with a gallon of regular going for $3.51 in Wall, AAA predicts more people traveling by car to get away, estimating 800,000 people will be on the road for the weekend.

Business owners at the Shore say they're expecting lots of crowds for Memorial Day, with one in Belmar saying it will dictate how the rest of the summer will go.
