JERSEY CITY - Dangerously overcrowded conditions were found during a raid at a house on Wayne Street in Jersey City.
There was also another raid carried out yesterday, on Pavonia Avenue in Jersey City, where Jersey City police found 15 men sleeping in one room.
The raids were sparked by complaints of large numbers of people coming and going from the Pavonia Avenue address. Evidence found at that raid led inspectors to the Wayne Street house.
In both cases, the people who were found in the homes were Chinese nationals. The residents aren't charged with any wrongdoing, but the property owners face zoning and fire violations.
Authorities tell News 12 New Jersey that the owners were ordered to be in court next month.
