Jersey City officers protest pending layoffs

JERSEY CITY - Police officers in Jersey City staged a rally today as a Jersey City council meeting is scheduled to be held tonight about pending layoffs. Currently, the city says 82 Jersey City police officers are facing layoffs that could come after the holiday season.

At tonight's meeting, the police union says it will make it clear that Jersey City can't afford to lose officers. The city says that it can no longer afford the officers anymore. Jersey City Mayor Healy says his position and offer is fair. He says jobs can be saved if officers take a pay lag and forego a uniform allowance for next year.Rally held in Jersey City to protest possible police layoffsJersey City announces possible police layoffs
