JERSEY CITY - Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop has enacted several changes only seven weeks into his first term.
The changes include issuing a zero-tolerance policy on the abuse of city vehicles, merging police and fire into a public safety department and shaking up City Hall. Fulop's latest target is the city's 64-year-old parking authority, which he wants to close.
One resident says that people have to give the mayor credit for making a lot of moves and getting drugs and guns off the streets.
Fulop, a former Marine and city councilman, has started a new tradition at City Hall, which is flying the flag of the U.S. Marine Corps. He says that as long as he is in office, the flag will remain.
